Pink Beach (Tangsi)

Overview

Pink Beach — known locally as Tangsi — sits on Lombok’s remote southeast corner, where fragments of red coral mix into the sand and give the shoreline a soft pink blush. The colour is most obvious in bright sun and where the waves wet the sand. It’s a sheltered, scenic spot well off the main tourist trail, and reaching it is half the adventure.

• Snorkel in the calm, clear water just off the beach.
• Climb the small headlands for views over the cove and nearby islets.
• Walk the quiet shoreline and look for the pinkest patches of sand.
• Combine a visit with the rugged beaches and viewpoints scattered along the southeast coast.

How to get there

Pink Beach is one of the more remote spots on this list. From Kuta, expect roughly 1.5 to 2 hours of driving east along the south coast. We pick you up at your Kuta accommodation; the final access roads can be rough and are best tackled with a driver who knows the route and current conditions.

A recommended day

1. Set off early — the drive is long and the light is best in the morning.
2. Arrive at Pink Beach for snorkelling before any crowds.
3. Picnic or eat at a simple local warung nearby.
4. Stop at a southeast viewpoint or quiet beach on the way back.
