Secret Gilis (Nanggu, Sudak & Kedis)
South-west Lombok · ~1.5–2 hr from Kuta · ~70 km

Overview
Off the south-west coast near Sekotong lie Lombok’s “secret” Gilis — Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak and Gili Kedis — a cluster of tiny white-sand islets a world away from the busy Gili Trawangan crowd. The water is calm and impossibly clear, the snorkelling starts a few steps off the beach, and tiny Gili Kedis is little more than a sandbar with a single shade tree. It’s the spot for a slow, quiet island day.
Things to do
- Snorkel straight off the sand over shallow coral and reef fish.
- Island-hop by local boat between Nanggu, Sudak and Kedis.
- Swim and laze on soft, near-empty white sand.
- Bring a picnic to Gili Kedis for a castaway-style stop.
How to get there
From Kuta it’s roughly a 1.5 to 2 hour drive west to the Sekotong launch points (around Tawun or Tembowong), where a short local boat hop reaches the islands. We pick you up at your Kuta hotel or villa and handle the whole drive; the boat is easy to arrange at the harbour, and we can help sort it for you.
A recommended day
- Early Kuta pickup to reach Sekotong before midday.
- Hop by boat to the first island and snorkel the shallows.
- Picnic or grab a simple lunch between islands.
- One last swim, then the scenic coastal drive back to Kuta.
Why book a private driver
The secret Gilis are quiet precisely because they’re a fair way from the south coast, with no simple public route. A private driver makes it effortless: a comfortable air-conditioned car for the drive each way, help arranging the boat, and the freedom to leave early and beat the day-trippers. You get a calm island day and a local who knows the roads and the best launch point.
